Children come first. As parents we feel very successful if our children have met half of our expectations for them, and more than half of their expectations for themselves. If you’re a lawyer, the tendency for you as a [lawyer] parent may be to raise a Judge; if you’re a nurse, you may hope that your child becomes a doctor. Be sure to balance your expectations with what makes your child happy and fulfilled. It is important to pay attention to what skills your child already has and to foster their talents and interests.
