Post divorce issue #6: Stress Management

Stress can be viewed as a nonspecific response of your body to the demands made upon it. This is how I perceive stress because that’s the way I feel it. I usually cannot indicate its location the same way I can point to an aching ear or to a pain in my knee or in my stomach. Stress has an uncanny way of permeating everything you do, and may influence a usually positive mindset to become negative, often provoking more serious conditions such as depression. Stress can also lead to other serious illnesses if not managed effectively, so recognizing the different symptoms your body exhibits when stressed is important for stress management.

One excellent way to de-stress your life is simply to exercise, even just for a few minutes a day. Find an activity that you are most comfortable doing, whether it be walking, jogging, taking a dance class, or running around with the little ones outside.

According to Harvard Health,  exercise has been proven to reduce your body’s production of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol and helps produce endorphins, your body’s natural painkiller and mood elevator. I have a host of ideas and tips for controlling your stress levels.
