Post Divorce Issue #4: Children: Troubleshooting

when there is a problem, First of all, a shout out to all the single moms!! Raising healthy, emotionally stable children is difficult, and when you are either divorced, separated or single, that task becomes even more challenging. As they get older, your job as a parent may not necessarily get easier, instead, old problems are simply replaced with more advanced, and perhaps age-appropriate ones. You need to know what problems to expect at each stage of their growth, so that you can either prevent them, work through them by trouble-shooting crisis situations, or eventually resolve them. One important tip for troubleshooting problems between you and your children is effective communication. Getting to know your children and their challenges at every stage of their growth will facilitate dialogue during troubled times. Frequent, positive communication between you and your children will encourage trust, and you will be the first to know. Do not hesitate to contact a specialist if your child has problems that are beyond your scope of parenting. Look for more strategies on how to best communicate with your children or how to support them emotionally, academically and socially, coming soon!
